Hello! I’m a second-year PhD student in mathematics at the University of Washington. My mathematical interests are mainly in algebraic combinatorics (with assorted interests in algebraic geometry and representation theory). Broadly, I enjoy learning about combinatorics in connection with algebra and geometry and finding ways in which all three overlap. I am also generally enthusiastic about (mathematical) pedagogy and thinking about how to share math with people.

I graduated from Cornell University in December 2023 with a bachelor’s in mathematics and computer science. Some wayward academic interests from my time as an undergraduate include programming languages, formal verification, physics, and linguistics. I don’t think about these things as much anymore, but I love to hear about them!

Outside of academics, in my free time I like playing games (on boards or otherwise) and doing puzzles (so much that sometimes I spend a whole weekend on them). I also enjoy dancing and playing ultimate frisbee.

axioms

I strongly believe in and attempt to uphold the following axioms laid out by Federico Ardila:

  1. Mathematical potential is equally present in different groups, irrespective of geographic, demographic, and economic boundaries.
  2. Everyone can have joyful, meaningful, and empowering mathematical experiences.
  3. Mathematics is a powerful, malleable tool that can be shaped and used differently by various communities to serve their needs.
  4. Every student deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
These axioms have at least 17 corollaries that should be pursued thoroughly. yp17
